    How Gracefully Will You Age?

    Posted by:

    AGELESS BEAUTY
I love getting wiser as I age, but I can’t say I was ever thrilled about getting wrinkles or grey hair.  Several years ago, I remember waking up and noticing this huge line between my eyebrows.  I could not stop staring at it. Everytime I looked in the mirror, that was the first thing I would see. It was not a pretty sight!!! It made me look tired and angry when I was really neither.
Sure medical school and residency allowed me to be able to do what I do today, but it definitely took a toll on my skin (and that is why I often talk about managing stress in my newsletters and Facebook as it plays a huge role in the aging process).  I could continue blaming the stress from my medical training or do something about it.  I eventually decided the latter and started treating my frown lines with Botox, in addition to managing my stress better.  In a matter of two years the line got softer and is hardly noticeable now. I can’t say I miss it very much as I have a lot of other wonderful things to remind me of my medical school and residency years!!!

With the advent of non-invasive preventative procedures such as botox, dermal fillers, lasers, ultherapy and a lot more, we can now maintain our youth longer without any major risks or downtime!!!

Here’s how the following procedures prevent the aging process:

Botox– prevents muscles from contracting which causes the muscles to get weaker. Dr. Harmohina Bagga agrees that if done on a regular basis (every 3-4 months), Botox prevents wrinkles as the skin overlying the muscles does not get pulled down as strongly. Many of my clients have asked me how exactly this happens so I have made a youtube video here providing more details.

Dermal Fillers– some studies show that dermal fillers can help boost collagen production that plays a huge role in aging. We loose collagen by 1% a year starting in our late 20’s.

Ultherapy– is a non-invasive ultrasound procedure that boosts your own collagen production, thus slowing down the aging process.

Chemical peels or lasers photofacials help to eliminate sun damage which plays a huge role in aging.

Sure when we did not have the above technology and procedures, you had no choice but to “age gracefully”, but now you get to choose exactly how gracefully you will age!!!
