BEAUTY AND HEALTH. Halting the Aging Process with Antioxidants for the Body and Skin

ANTIOXIDANTS FOR THE BODY: You Are What You Eat

An array of colorful fruits and vegetables in your diet every day will help your source antioxidants, mainly from the phytonutrients (plant based nutrients) that they contain. These foods are also a good source of other antioxidants such as Vitamins A, C, and E. The concept of “good, better, best” can come into play when determining the real powerhouses for the skin and body.  See below for a list of some of my favorite foods that are high in antioxidants. Follow us on our Facebook page for a more complete list. Also, remember by eating organic you reduce your risk of exposure to pesticides, while increasing your level of antioxidant consumption.

    • BERRIES: Blueberries, Blackberries, Rasberries, Cranberries, Goji Berries
    • DARK, LEAFY GREENS: Broccoli, Spinach, Kale, Brussel Sprouts
    • NUTS:  Walnuts, Pecans, Almonds
    • TEA: White and Green

All of the above are rich in a variety of antioxidants to help slow down the aging process of the body’s organs, including the skin.  Note that antioxidants work as a team and you will not get the best result by eating one group at a time.

ANTIOXIDANTS FOR YOUR SKIN HEALTH: Powerful Protection

Your skin health is dependent on what is going on in your body. Wrinkles, crepiness, dull skin, and sun damage are all indicative of oxidative stress on the skin. At Anand Medical Spa, we carry two medical-grade line of skin care products (SkinMedica and Revisions) that contain the key antioxidants of Vitamin A, C, and E designed to fight the damage caused by free radicals, boost your collagen production, and protect against UVA and UVB rays which leads to the damage of your skin’s collagen. To further protect your skin from the harm caused by UVA and UVB rays from the sun, I recommend a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 regardless of skin type.
