Botox For Wrinkles

If you’ve noticed unwanted wrinkles and creases appearing on your face, the thought of getting Botox injections has probably already crossed your mind. Botox is the most frequently performed cosmetic procedure in NYC today. You’ve probably heard at least one friend or family member rave about the results of their Botox injections.

You’re reading this page because you’re curious about whether Botox could work for you. As one of the best Botox doctors in NYC, Dr. Sunanda Chugh is the best person to help you make an informed decision about this safe and effective treatment.

What Botox Treats

If you’re looking for a wrinkle treatment in NYC, Botox may be your best option. Botox can be used to treat very specific and targeted areas of aging on the face. It is a localized treatment that works to minimize lines and wrinkles in the area where it is injected. Some of the most common areas of the face that we treat with Botox are:

  • Vertical lines/frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Forehead or worry lines
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Bunny lines on the nose
  • Smoker’s lines (vertical lines around the lips)
  • Around the eyebrows to provide a gentle lift
  • Gummy Smile
  • Corners of mouth for downturned smile
  • Dimpling of the chin (“peach pit” chin or peu D’Orange chin)
  • Vertical neck bands

How Botox Works

Botox is a purified protein that comes from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. When it is injected into a muscle, it stops the nerve impulse from reaching the muscle, thus preventing it from contracting as strongly. This causes the muscle to weaken and relax, allowing the overlying skin to soften and causing wrinkles in the area to disappear. Botox has been in use for many years and is approved by the FDA for the treatment of areas such as the glabellar wrinkles (frown lines) and crow’s feet.

What to Expect During a Botox Treatment Session

Dr. Chugh uses a tiny needle to inject small amounts of Botox into your skin and/or muscles. The number of injections she administers will depend upon the size of the area being treated and the strength of the targeted muscle. It usually takes about 5 minutes to administer Botox injections.

After receiving a Botox wrinkle treatment in NYC, most of our patients resume their normal routines immediately. You should avoid rubbing the treated area as this may cause the product to move to nearby muscles. Some patients experience minor redness or bruising at the injection site, which can be covered with makeup.

The results of Botox are typically seen within 3 to 10 days. You can expect the results to be maintained for about 3 to 4 months before you need a touch up. Some of our New York patients who have been receiving Botox for several years report that the results last longer and find they are able to extend the interval between injections up to 4 – 5 months.

Dr. Chugh Explains How Botox Helps Prevent Signs of Aging

Exceedingly popular in NYC, Botox is one of the safest cosmetic treatments available today. Contrary to popular belief, the Botox protein itself is not a poison as it has been modified extensively into a pure form with a very dilute concentration. When injected properly into the muscle, it does not enter other areas of the body. To increase the safety of this treatment, we encourage patients to only undergo Botox with a physician who is experienced in administering the product. At Anand Medical Spa, we do not use nurses or physicians assistants to administer Botox injections. Dr. Chugh is the only person who provides Botox to our NYC clientele.

What are Botox® injections like?
Dr. Chugh knows just how much Botox® you need, and combines skill and artistry to precisely inject the wrinkle relaxer for natural results. With a thorough understanding of facial anatomy, Dr. Chugh administers precise amounts of Botox® from the comfort of her NYC office.. Patients can resume daily activities immediately upon leaving Anand Medical Spa in New York.
How should I prepare for my Botox® procedure?
Dr. Chugh advises that patients end consumption of blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.) a week prior to injections. It is also important to avoid drinking and smoking a few days prior to treatment. These precautions help reduce the chance of post- Botox® bruising at the injection site. If you need pain medication in the days before your Botox® injection, we recommend using Tylenol.
What is Botox®?
Each time you smile, laugh, scowl or show any form of facial expression, tension builds in the corresponding muscles. Over time, this tension reveals itself on the skin’s surface as dynamic wrinkles. Botox® treatments in NYC are a safe and effective way to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles without surgery. Botox® is a neuromodulator that comfortably targets and relaxes wrinkles caused by tension and repetitive movements without significant downtime.
Are Botox® injections painful?
There is minimal discomfort with Botox. Upon request, we are happy to provide ice-packs and/or topical numbing cream prior to treatment to ensure comfort throughout the procedure. Since Botox® needles are so small and administered in minute doses, injections are normally well tolerated by our patients. Dr. Chugh practices extreme care when performing Botox® injections in NYC to optimize your comfort throughout the session.
How should I choose my Botox provider?
Optimal results are gained when the cosmetic specialist’s experience is taken into consideration. For smooth and long-lasting results, you should choose a New York cosmetic doctor who specializes in injectables, including Botox® injections, and has positive patient testimonials and photographs. Dr. Chugh has extensive training and experience in administering Botox® and dermal fillers, and has been in practice for 14 years, making her an excellent choice when looking for a Botox® doctor in NYC.
