Do you find yourself reminiscing about the soft, glowing skin you used to have? Do you wish you had your friend’s beautiful, youthful complexion? Skin resurfacing is an ideal treatment for dull and tired skin that has been affected by aging, acne, and/or sun damage. This treatment gives your face the chance to grow new layers of young and healthy skin.
Skin resurfacing can be performed through a series of laser treatments or chemical peels. The treatment is minimally invasive and requires only a short period of downtime afterwards. In just two days, you can be back to your normal activities, while your skin continues to heal and regenerate. For our NYC patients, this short recovery period is well worth the remarkable results that can be achieved through skin resurfacing
When and Why to Consider Skin Resurfacing
Laser and chemical peel skin resurfacing is a highly effective treatment that involves minimal pain, recovery, or preparation. It is most often recommended for patients who want to:
- Make rough skin softer and smoother.
- Improve sun damage/spots (photoaging) and hyperpigmentation such as melasma
- Minimize and tighten large pores
- Smooth uneven skin tone
- Decrease acne and blemish breakouts.
- Minimize signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles.
- Diminish the appearance of superficial scars, such as acne scars
- Slow down the aging process by increasing collagen and elastin production
Your Skin Resurfacing Treatment in New York
A chemical peel or laser skin resurfacing treatment with Dr. Chugh will leave you looking vibrant and rejuvenated just in time for that special event – or simply because you’re ready to enjoy beautiful, youthful skin again! The procedure, which is done either through laser treatment or a chemical peel, gives your skin an opportunity to regenerate new, fresh skin cells by either “peeling” off the dead layers of your skin or by using a laser to regenerate new collagen and leave behind a fresh, new layer. The entire process can be completed in less than half an hour and the results are typically seen after the first week. Depending on the extent of rejuvenation required, you may wish to return to our NY office for additional treatments.
After your treatment, you may experience some peeling, redness, and swelling which is completely normal, as the dead outer layers of skin shed from your face and new skin cells are regenerating. As such, we recommend that our patients set aside a couple of days to recover. Many people plan this treatment for a Thursday or Friday so they can return to work by Monday.
