Dark Under Eye Circles

Dark Under Eye Circles
One of the most obvious and first places we show signs of aging is the EYES!
In my previous blog, I spoke about why the skin around the eyes ages faster than anywhere else and the different modalities I offer to help your eyes look younger. Today, I would like to focus specifically on those under eye circleswhich make us look tired and older than we actually are!
Dark circles can be inherited, and are common among people of South Asian, Afro-American, Hispanic and Mediterranean descent due to excess pigment in the area.  Age and how well you take care of your body including the appropriate amount of sleep can also contribute to dark circles.  With age, the skin around the eyes thins and exposes tiny blood vessels which give the appearance of bluish or purple dark circles.
Dark circles in MANY cases are not about the changes in color of the skin, but rather the loss of volume or sunken eyes. This loss of volume exposes the orbital bone and creates a hollowness.  The hollowness creates a shadowing effect which appears as dark circles. This starts to happen as early as your mid-30’s.
So what can we do about your dark circles?
You can certainly put concealer on the dark circles, but this is a temporary solution.
Dermal fillers can help correct the dark circles due to hollowness under your eyes by restoring the loss of volume, therefore eliminating the shadowing created by the hollowness.  The dermal fillers last 9-12 months, the results are immediate, AND you look 10 years younger!
