With Valentine’s Day just a few weeks away, you want to make sure your lips look sexier than ever for that perfect Valentine’s kiss. But what makes lips sexy? Is it a perfect cupid’s bow? A certain level of plumpness? Or is it completely subjective?
It turns out that there is a perfect size and ratio that determines their sexiness. According to a study published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery in 2017, lips with a surface area that is 53.5% bigger than the women’s baseline (natural mouth size) and that take up about 10% of the lower third of their face are found to be more attractive. In addition to the increase from baseline size, the sexiest ratio for lips is 1:2; this means that the upper lip is half the size of the bottom lip.
Lately, the media has influenced a preference towards a more 1:1 ratio, but 1:2 is what the study found to be a more attractive and natural ratio (at least for white women, who were the primary subjects of the study). Alternatively, a 2:1 ratio where the upper lip is twice the size of the bottom lip, was deemed to be the least attractive.
In conclusion, having well-defined, plump lips in proportion with your overall face and with a 1:2 ratio makes you appear more attractive and youthful. For reference, this ratio can be seen in Victoria’s Secret models Alessandra Ambrosio and Miranda Kerr, who are deemed as some of the sexiest models on the runway.
So, how can you obtain this perfect size and ratio? When you come in for an evaluation, I will look at the specific shape, size and ratio of your lips in proportion to your overall face and decide what will be best for you. We offer a variety of lip fillers that can enhance your lips by plumping them, smoothing them, and defining their shape and size so you can feel confident and sexy!
